Surgery with Local Anesthesia (“numbing” the area only).

Prior to surgery:

CANCELLATION POLICY: Please allow 1 week notice for cancellation. Failure to provide adequate notice will incur a $200 late cancellation fee.

 

1. You may eat and drink normally before your surgery. We highly recommend that you are well nutritioned and well hydrated for surgery.

 

2. You may take your medication that you normally take unless you have been told to do otherwise by your primary care physician.

 

3.  If under 18, a parent or legal guardian must accompany you or the procedure will be cancelled. Otherwise, if you are over the age of 18 you do not need an escort and you may drive yourself home after the appointment.

 

4. Wear loose fitting clothing with short sleeves or sleeves that can be easily rolled up past the elbow.

 

5. Wear low heeled, well-fitting shoes. Do not wear flip flops/sandals, clogs, or heeled shoes.

 

6. POCKETS MUST BE EMPTY, this includes keys, wallets, phones, etc.

 

7. You may brush your teeth before your appointment.

 

8.  Avoid alcohol consumption at least 3-5 days prior to your surgery. Alcohol can lead to excessive bleeding and may interfere with sedation medications, which may be life threatening.

 

9.  Avoid smoking at least 1-2 weeks prior to your surgery.

 

10.  Avoid use of over the counter blood thinning medications such as Advil, Naproxen, Aleve, Motrin/Ibuprofen, aspirin (unless prescribed by your physician) at least 5-7 days prior to your surgery. Tylenol is not a blood thinning medication. Please consult with your primary care doctor if you are unsure about these medications.

11. NO CELL PHONES, CAMERAS, RECORDERS, or any other media devices are permitted in the treatment rooms and must remain in the waiting room.

 

12. Please arrive 15 minutes early and plan to be in the office about 45 minutes to 1 hour.

 

13. Full instructions and prescriptions for post-operative care will be given on the day of surgery. Please note that STRENUOUS ACTIVITYAND EXERTION MUST BE AVOIDED AT LEAST 2 WEEKS AFTER SURGERY.  This includes sports, playing certain instruments, heavy lifting, running, bending over, lifting heavy objects, etc.

 

14. If you have a serious illness or are under the care of a physician, tell him/her of your surgical plans. If he/she feels it is indicated, let him/her give you a check-up, advise us of his/her findings and recommendations prior to surgery. If necessary, we will consult your physician.

 

15. Additional x-rays may be required and ordered by the doctor prior to your surgery. The purpose is to insure that you receive appropriate, safe, and expert care.
